1887 sees the competition reduced to 4 teams. Richmond and Albert Park are no more. Prahran goes through the season undefeated (unless it loses the first game, the result of which I can't find yet) and wins both of the cups.

The Anglo-Australian Football Association put four teams of 11 a side into the field at the Caledonian society sports today, to compete for the trophy of 10 guineas offered by the Caledonian Society. There will be three matches of 30 minutes each, the first commencing at half-past 12 between the Carlton and Melbourne Rovers, the second at half-past 2 between the Prahran and South Melbourne and the deciding contest at half past 3 between the winners of the first two matches.
